FAQ’s

What happens during your first chiropractic visit?

Your first visit takes about 45 minutes. Dr. Patel starts by listening to your symptoms and health history, then performs a physical exam including posture analysis, range of motion testing, and spinal palpation. If needed, we can take digital X-rays on-site to get a clearer picture of what's happening.

After the evaluation, Dr. Patel explains what he found in plain language and recommends a treatment plan. Most patients receive their first adjustment that same day and walk out feeling better than when they came in.

How much does a chiropractor visit cost without insurance?

For self-pay patients, your first visit (including exam, X-rays, and initial treatment) costs $150. Follow-up adjustments are $100 depending on the services needed. We're transparent about pricing because nobody likes surprise bills.

We're in-network with Emblem Health and Healthfirst (excluding Medicaid and Medicare plans). If you have out-of-network benefits with another insurer, we bill your insurance directly, you don't have to deal with submitting claims yourself. Insurance typically covers a significant portion of care, and in many cases pays more than our self-pay rates. We'll verify your benefits before your first visit so you know exactly what to expect.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes. Chiropractic care has an excellent safety record. A 2017 study in the journal Spine found that spinal manipulation carries lower risks than common alternatives like NSAIDs or muscle relaxants.

Dr. Patel performs a thorough evaluation before any treatment to identify the right approach for your specific situation. He uses gentle techniques and always explains what he's doing before he does it. If something wouldn't be appropriate for you, he'll tell you.

Serious complications from chiropractic adjustments are extremely rare—about 1 in several million treatments.

What is the difference between Chiropractic care and physical therapy?

Chiropractors focus on restoring proper alignment to your spine and joints through hands-on adjustments. When your joints move correctly, your nervous system works better and pain decreases.

Physical therapists focus on rebuilding strength and flexibility, usually through exercises and stretches. They don't perform spinal adjustments.

Many patients benefit from both. At Brooklyn Chiropractic Care, we combine chiropractic adjustments with soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation exercises. You get the joint correction and the muscle work in one place.

How long does it take for chiropractic adjustments to work?

Most patients notice some improvement after their first adjustment. About 60% feel measurably better within the first week of care.

The timeline depends on what's causing your pain. A recent muscle strain might resolve in 2-4 visits. Chronic issues like disc problems or long-standing postural problems usually take 4-8 weeks of consistent care.

Here's the reality: the longer you've had a problem, the longer it typically takes to fix. That's why we encourage people not to wait.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in New York?

No referral needed. In New York, you can see a chiropractor directly without going through your primary care doctor first.

Just call us at (347) 625-1246 or book online. We offer same-day appointments when available, and walk-ins are always welcome. Most new patients are seen within 24-48 hours of calling.

How much does shockwave therapy cost?

Shockwave therapy sessions are $120 each, or you can save with a package of 6 sessions for $600. Most patients see significant improvement within 6-8 treatments. Shockwave therapy isn't covered by insurance, so these rates apply to all patients.
